VEMULAWADA, MARCH 22. The Assembly Speaker, K.R. Suresh Reddy, has called upon voluntary organisations to actively participate in developmental works such as providing drinking water and education to the rural masses. The Speaker visited the temple town this evening to participate in various programmes, including performing bhoomi puja for the construction of a feeder channel at a cost of Rs. 1 crore from Mallaram to the temple on the Mulavagu. On the occasion of World Water Day today, he stressed on the need to educate people about water conservation. The Self-Employed Welfare Society (SEWS) chairman, Ch Ramesh, said that their voluntary organisation had taken up several water conservation schemes in the Sircilla division. Earlier, the authorities of Vemulawada Rajarajeshwara Swamy devasthanams accorded a warm welcome to the Speaker who offered prayers in the temple.
