Film world pays tribute to Gemini

CHENNAI, MARCH 22. Fans and people from all walks of life came together in Chennai to mourn the death of Gemini Ganesh on Tuesday.

The early callers included the Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa, and the DMK president, M. Karunanidhi.

Actors Vijaykanth, Kamal Hassan, Napolean, Nagesh, Nambiyar, Manorama, S. S. Rajendran, Vijayakumar, Y. Gee. Mahendra, Balaji, Senthil, K. R. Vijaya, M. N. Rajam, Goundamani, Rajesh, directors Balachander, Bharathi Raja, singers Vani Jayaram, T. M. Soundarajan and lyricist Vairamuthu paid their last respects.

Starting with "Miss Malini," Gemini Ganesan acted in nearly 200 films. His last film was `Adi Dhadi' (2004). He also played guest roles in films such as `Marma Veeran', `Nootrukku Nooru' and `Annai Velkankanni' in Tamil. He starred with the late MGR in `Mugarasi'. He won the best actor award of the Tamil Nadu Government for his role in `Kaaviya Thalaivi'.
