Temperature

MADURAI, MARCH 22. The city today registered a maximum temperature of 37.4 degree Celsius and a minimum of 25.6 degree Celsius.

Water level

The level in the Periyar dam today stood at 108.7 feet with no inflow and discharge. The level in the Vaigai dam was 26.61 feet with an inflow of 41 cusecs and a discharge of 30 cusecs.

Forum launched

Another movement to combat corruption was launched at a function organised at the Gandhi Museum.

The Movement for Combating Corruption will have J. Johnson Sundararaj as president, R. Ramakrishnan vice-president, A. Joseph Arulraj general secretary, C. Muthuraj joint general secretary and S. Chidambaram as treasurer.

NAAC team visit

The National Assessment and Accreditation Council, led by C.K. Kokate, former Vice-Chancellor, Kakatya University, visited the Sarasawathi Narayanan College on Monday.

The council members conducted discussions with staff of the Chemistry department.

Plea to Govt.

The Government should introduce a plan to construct houses and make arrangements to set up temporary houses for the poor who had lost their houses in the ongoing encroachment eviction drive. A resolution to this effect was passed at the Madurai-Dindigul-Theni district executive committee meeting of the Tamil Nadu Gandhi Manram Iyyakkam held at the Gandhi Museum recently, a release said.
