TIRUPUR, MARCH 22 . An eight-year-old boy was killed and six others seriously injured when the auto in which they travelled overturned at Somanur, 23 kms from here today. According to the police, the driver lost control while negotiating a curve. Kavin Seenivasan, a Class III student of a private school here died on the spot. The injured were admitted to the Government Hospital in Coimbatore. Agitated public resorted to a road blockade on the Coimbatore - Erode National Highway at Karumathampatty Junction and traffic was disrupted for over an hour. They claimed that the driver was under the influence of liquor, and demanded action against auto rickshaws plying without valid permit and licence. The police arrested the auto driver and assured to take action. The Coimbatore SP, Dinakaran, visited the spot.
