HYDERABAD, MARCH 22. A dispute between a jewellery shop owner and a customer over a missing earring led to mild tension in Charminar area on Tuesday night. The customer's relatives and family members stormed the shop accusing its owner of wrongfully confining the woman and attempting to insult her modesty. A woman, resident of Panchmohalla, came to Surajban jewellers near Gulzar House around 8 p.m. After some time, the shop workers found a gold earring missing. Suspecting that she might have stolen it, two woman workers of the shop -- Jabina and Meeraj - frisked her. While the shop owner alleged that the earring was found while frisking the woman, the latter condemned it and said it was traced in the shop, the South Zone DCP, Mahesh M. Bhagawat, said. She immediately called her husband, Sajid, whose relatives and friends staged a demonstration in front of the Charminar police station demanding action against the shop owner. The agitators withdrew the demonstration after the police booked a case against the Jeweller. Cases were also booked against Sajid and his supporters.
