HYDERABAD, MARCH 22. Yadamma was sitting in her shed at MBT Nagar when two youngsters barged in and allegedly smashed her head with boulders on Tuesday afternoon. The duo dragged the profusely bleeding 40-year-old woman for over a distance of 150 yards. Even as people in the neighbourhood watched in horror, the accused hit her repeatedly on the head with sticks killing her on the spot. The youth were later identified as Bhanuchander (22), and his cousin, Naresh. The former is the son of Yadamma's alleged paramour, Narsinga Rao. "The murder is a fall-out of the alleged intimacy between Yadamma, a widow, and Rao, a labourer," the Banjara Hills Inspector, L.T. Chandrashekhar, said.
People shocked
More than the motive, the fact that the murder was committed in full public view shocked the police. So ghastly was the killing that locals pleaded ignorance about the victim's identity when police reached the spot. "We had to trace the victim's house based on the blood stains on the road. Once her house was located, her identity and the motive behind the murder could be established easily," the Inspector explained. Yadamma'sintimacy with Rao triggered trouble in the latter's family. Rao's wife,Bhanuchander, who was picked up late in the night, confessed to police that his mother's plight drove him to kill Yadamma. Naresh is still at large.
