Engineer deported

A Gujarathi engineering graduate, who was caught by the Dubai Immigration authorities on charge of attempting to fly to America with a forged passport, was deported to Hyderabad on Monday.

The accused, Patel Krishna Kumar Hari Bhai (37), confessed to the Begumpet police that he had struck a deal with an agent to pay Rs. 25 lakhs if the latter managed to send him to America.

History-sheeter sent to jail Amberpet Shankar, who had been allegedly absconding for the past seven months following a detention order from the Hyderabad Police Commissioner, was arrested by the Amberpet police on Tuesday. He was lodged in Chanchalguda prison. The city commissioner issued an order on July 15, 2003 to detain Shankar under a Special Act. He was sent to jail and released after obtaining a favourable order from the High Court. The city police filed an appeal in Supreme Court and got the High Court's order revoked. Shankar was absconding since then.

Bid to rape minor

A security guard allegedly attempted to rape his nine-year-old stepdaughter at Adityanagar under Kukatpally police station limits on Tuesday. The accused, Vickey Shukla, recently married a widow, Rama Devi, who had a daughter.

When Rama Devi was away this evening, Shukla allegedly tried to sexually assault the girl. When the girl raised an alaram, Shukla fled the hut, the Miyapur police said.
