Anti-filaria programme opposed

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, MARCH 22. The Federation of Residents' Associations (FRAT) has come out against the mass drug administration programme of the Health Department for controlling filariasis and demanded that the Government drop the programme.

In a statement here, the FRAT secretary, Pattom Sasidharan Nair, and the president, Vennikkulam George Varghese, charged that the programme was being implemented without giving sufficient information to the public on the drug's alleged side effects.

Speed Post facility

The Kerala Postal Circle is starting a Speed Post extension counter at Vattiyoorkavu on April 1 on an experimental basis. The counter will function from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for two months. The cut-off time is 11.30 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Orientation course

The Mar Thoma Hospital Guidance and Counselling Centre on Pazhaya Road here is organising an orientation course for students who have completed Std IX at 9.30 a.m. on March 28, according to a press release. Training in electronics

The Institution of Engineers (India) here is conducting a summer programme on project training on electrical electronics for high school students and those have appeared for the SSLC examination in April-May.
