Protest against Government apathy

KOCHI, MARCH 22. The Hindu Aikya Vedi has decided to protest against the Government's apathy in rehabilitating the tsunami victims. A statement issued by Kummanam Rajasekharan, general secretary of the Vedi, said that while rejecting the offer of constructing houses for victims by Mata Amritanandamayi, the Government was yet to build a single house. On March 26, the tsunami victims at Alappad and Aarattupuzha panchayats will start protest rallies. On April 7, a protest march to the Secretariat will be inaugurated at Azhikkal by Ashok Singhal, working president of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP).

Pharmacists' protest

The members of the Government Pharmacists' Association today struck work in Government hospitals for an hour protesting against the low quality drugs being supplied through the Government machinery. The pharmacists distributed notices regarding the drug supply situation in Government hospitals and the crisis in the drug industry.

Association holds first meet

The Kerala Renewable Energy Promoters' Association, which was formed by institutions engaged in research, education and business of renewable energy, held its first meeting on Monday at the Renewable Energy Centre, Mithradham. George Peter Pittppillil, Director of Mithradham, was elected president, K.N. Iyer, managing director of Kraftwork Solar Private Ltd., was elected vice-president, and Gerogekutty Kariyanappally, managing director of Lifeway Solar, is the secretary-cum-treasurer.

Dental camp

A seminar and diagnosis camp on dental protection in modern times will be conducted at the Renewable Energy Centre, Mithradam, on Saturday. Thomas George, former Superintendent of Police, and G. Vijayan have been elected as president and secretary respectively of Kochi City Action Force. C. Narayanan and P.V. Johny are the vice-presidents, while R. Sasidharan and K. Thangal Kunju are the joint secretaries. K.S. Vijayan is the treasurer.
