NEW DELHI, MARCH 22. Even as the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) gears up to go the e-way with introduction of online books, the availability of its textbooks in shops around the country seems to be once again causing concern amongst schools and students. Being seen as a big step for the NCERT, the e-books are initially likely to be launched for Class IX to XII and will cover all English medium textbooks. Students will be able to download the textbooks from the site, allowing them to read from the books even when they are offline. But with the launch of online books still some time away and few students having access to a computer, it will be the conventional textbook that will continue to play an important role. And as usual, all are hoping that the books will be available when schools reopen in April. With the new academic session only a week away, the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), today said all necessary measures have been taken to ensure that Urdu medium textbooks will be available by April. While pointing out that a major chunk of the books have been already published, the Council said the remaining are in the process of being published to solve the problem faced by Urdu medium students in the past. With the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) being the largest consumer of Urdu medium books, its schools have been already provided with books for Class I to V. All the books of the language for Class VI to X have been already published and supplied to the market, the Council said in a statement issued today. To further ensure that none of the books carry any error, the text of the books is based on the recommendations made by the quick book review committee set up by the executive committee of the NCERT. The books will be distributed through the Urdu Academy.
