NEW DELHI, MARCH 22. An alleged burglar and an alleged receiver of stolen property were arrested by the Operation Cell of the North Delhi police on Monday. The police claimed to have recovered stolen goods worth Rs. 11 lakhs from their possession. According to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (North Delhi), Rajesh Khurana, two incidents of burglary in shops were reported from Timarpur on March 1 and 8. Investigations revealed that the burglaries had been committed by a person who had taken a shop on rent adjacent to the shops targeted by him. The police prepared a handmade portrait of the suspect on the basis of his description given by the area shopkeepers. Acting on a tip-off that the suspect, identified as Chandan Mishra, would come to Subzi Mandi to dispose of stolen television sets, the police laid a trap and arrested him on Monday. During interrogation, Chandan allegedly disclosed that he and his maternal uncles, Chander Jha and Sadanand Jha, had stolen the television sets from a shop at Timarpur.
