PRISTINA (Serbia-Montenegro): Kosovo's lawmakers elected Bajram Kosumi (in the picture) to be the disputed U.N.-run province's new Prime Minister on Wednesday, replacing Ramush Haradinaj who resigned earlier this month after he was indicted for war crimes. The President, Ibrahim Rugova, nominated him despite some western officials' appeals to form a wider-based government to lead the province in talks on its future later this year. Mr. Kosumi said his Government would focus on three main issues: developing the economy, pursuing Kosovo's independence, and meeting human rights and minority rights benchmarks set by the international community by midyear.
