Rupee declines further
MUMBAI,
MARCH 23
. The rupee today plunged to one-month closing low of 43.79/80 a dollar after a resurgent overseas sparked by a 25 basis points rise in the U.S. key interest rates weighed heavily on its value on the back of a slowdown in foreign fund inflows. In mostly nervous trading at the interban foreign exchange market, the rupee lost yet another seven paise from Tuesday's finish of 43.7250/7300 after a weak opening of 43.78/79 per dollar.
The rupee has depreciated by nearly 15 paise in the current week so far, dragged down by steady dollar demand amidst reduced dollar supplies from foreign fund inflows. PTI
