Rupee declines further
MUMBAI,
MARCH 23
. The rupee today plunged to one-month closing low of 43.79/80 a dollar after a resurgent overseas sparked by a 25 basis points rise in the U.S. key interest rates weighed heavily on its value on the back of a slowdown in foreign fund inflows. In mostly nervous trading at the interban foreign exchange market, the rupee lost yet another seven paise from Tuesday's finish of 43.7250/7300 after a weak opening of 43.78/79 per dollar.
The rupee has depreciated by nearly 15 paise in the current week so far, dragged down by steady dollar demand amidst reduced dollar supplies from foreign fund inflows. — PTI
