Stop targeting buses, PUCL urges Maoists
By Our Staff Reporter
HYDERABAD,
MARCH 23.
The People's Union for Civil Liberties (PUCL) today called upon CPI (Maoist) leader, Ramakrishna, and his colleagues to abandon destruction of buses as "it would alienate their constituency and people."
In an open appeal on behalf of APSRTC workers to Mr. Ramakrishna, the PUCL president, K.G. Kannabiran, counselled him to take a firm decision on destruction of buses.
"The Government is really not bothered about such destruction because they also indulge in such activities. Ultimately it is the people who are affected", he said.
Mr. Kannabiran said: "We do realise that the State Government is dealing with you brutally resulting in death of several young people. While you are fighting for bettering the lot of poor people, your acts of reprisals are inflicting severe hardship on the poor in many ways."
