MYSORE, MARCH 23. With a view to creating awareness on the judicious use of water, Cauvery Neeravari Nigam is organising competitions in painting, cartoon drawing and singing here on Friday. According to a statement from the nigam, the competitions are being organised to mark World Water Day observed on March 22. While cartoon drawing and painting competitions will be held between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. at Curzon Park, the singing competition in environment-related themes will be held from noon on the nigam premises opposite Kalamandira. Except drawing competition, which only for children aged below 15, the other contests are open for all. The winners will be given prizes on Saturday at a function to be presided over by the Deputy Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah, at Kalamandira. Details can be obtained from K.M. Meanwhile, the Regional Museum of Natural History conducted a competition in water conservation, soil erosion, energy and science in future for teacher-trainees on March 22. The working models submitted by trainees from various colleges, who participated in the competition, were evaluated by experts. The first three prizes were bagged by Manohara S., Geetha T.J. and Irudaya Rajan, respectively. Kalpana K. from Sarada Vilas B.Ed College bagged a consolation prize.
