KARIMNAGAR, MARCH 23. The Karimnagar municipal authorities have launched an ambitious `Clean Karimnagar City' campaign, taking up massive cleaning operations as well as educating people about the importance of sanitation to avoid disease. The municipal authorities have already distributed dustbins to all commercial and business establishments in the town; municipal employees collect the garbage from the establishments every evening. The scheme has now been introduced in residential areas also with distribution of dustbins to residents. At a meeting in Mankammathota area, the Municipal commissioner, N. Satyanarayana distributed dustbins to the residents and explained to them the importance of cleanliness. He also urged the people not to dump garbage in open drains and on the road. He also warned of stern action against the people, who have not constructed septic tanks in their house. He said Rs. 4,370 was being distributed for construction of latrines in slums.
