For his father, says Inzamam

By K.C. Vijaya Kumar

BANGALORE, MARCH 24. A captain's knock in his 100th Test rested easy on Inzamam-Ul-Haq's burly shoulders. However the Pakistan skipper after an unbeaten 184 would rather focus on the second day and pile on the runs because the memory of bungling in the Kolkata Test after a second day score of 273 for two is still fresh in his memory.

"I am very happy with my knock and it came under pressure after losing two early wickets but we have to score 500 plus runs and not repeat the mistakes we made in Kolkata. I dedicate this century to my father," Inzamam said in a press conference at the Chinnaswamy Stadium here on Thursday evening.

Inzamam however rated his partner Younis Khan's unbeaten 127 as a better innings. "Infact Younis' knock was far better than mine. He has scored two centuries in two Tests and being a senior player, his contribution is good for the team," Inzamam said.

On the pitch and the conditions, Inzamam added, "it was very hot out there and I had cramps in the last session but the physio helped me recover and the wicket is good for batting and may help the spinners later."
