Steps to construct fishing harbour

NAGERCOIL, MARCH 24 . Necessary steps will be taken to construct a fishing harbour in the district for the benefit of fishing community, said the collector, Sunil Paliwal.

Distributing fault-rectified long tail-out board motors to fishermen in order to facilitate them to undertake fishing, the Collector said that the Government had been implementing welfare and development programme for tsunami-affected fishermen in the coastal areas of the district. Moreover the Government has drawn up a contingency plan for the implementation of long- term measures like rehabilitation etc. The Greaves Cotton Limited had spent more than Rs.9 lakhs to repair 95 outboard motors, the Collector added.
