KASARAGOD, MARCH 24. A rally to spread the message that tuberculosis can be prevented, treated and cured was held on the taluk hospital premises as part of the observance of World Tuberculosis Day today. But it was a day for protest for the Koraga tribe in the district. Demanding a tuberculosis treatment package for tribal people, Koragas staged a dharna in front of the taluk hospital this morning.
Disputes claim
According to their leaders, the claim of the Health department that tuberculosis had been eradicated among Koragas was incorrect. New patients were identified among the community, and only a special package would help eradicate the dreaded diseases completely, the leaders said.
