HYDERABAD, MARCH 24. In an attempt to earn the tag of a `caring government', the Chief Minister's Office is laying emphasis on certain dos' and don'ts for the officials and elected representatives. Simultaneously, it is also planning an administrative decentralisation mechanism for better and speedier implementation of its programmes and policies. Accordingly, district Collectors will be holding review meetings periodically under the chairmanship of their in-charge Ministers. MLAs, MPs and other officials would be taking part in it. The review will be done constituency-wise with the Collectors fixing targets under every programme. A brochure is being prepared to record the targets and list performances later. Problem areas have to be identified under financial and non-financial heads and individual and community needs have to be separated.
Review in April
The officials are being asked to concentrate on drinking water shortage and adverse seasonal conditions the next three months. The Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, is planning to review the situation in the first week of April. As for the MLAs and MPs, they are being asked not to confine themselves to the cities but tour their constituencies extensively. They are being told to keep track of all developmental work and not to ignore the decisions taken at the district review meetings.
