KANNUR, MARCH 24. The Parassini Madappura Sri Muthappan Temple at Parassinikkadavu will have more facilities with the temple trust devising comprehensive development activities estimated to cost Rs.3 crores. The temple trust member P.M. Sahadevan said at a press conference here today that the work on the development projects, including a dining hall, rest house, drinking water supply scheme, comfort station and waste treatment plant, would get under way on March 27 with the Tourism and Devaswom Minister, K.C. Venugopal, inaugurating the projects and the funds mobilisation at a function at the temple at 8.30 a.m. that day. The Taliparamba MLA, M.V. Govindan, the District Collector, K.S. Srinivas, and the Taliparamba municipal chairperson, P.K. Shyamala, will attend the function. Mr. Sahadevan said the new dining hall was envisaged to accommodate 1,000 devotees at a time. The proposed rest house will have dormitory facility for all pilgrims reaching the temple. The drinking water supply scheme is being planned to ensure 24-hour supply for the pilgrims. The work on the comfort station, estimated to cost Rs.50 lakhs, has already been awarded. The work is expected to be completed in 10 months. Mr. Sahadevan said that the funds for the projects would be mobilised through collections from devotees.
