KARIMNAGAR, MARCH 24. The Jagtial second additional sessions judge, D. Singara Chary, on Thursday, sentenced an accused to undergo rigorous imprisonment for life for abducting a person for ransom and for causing his death. According to police sources, the accused Dasaratham (32) had abducted Yellaiah from Jagtial town for ransom on October 22 last year and kept him on the Manala hillocks near Mallial. The accused had the tied Yellaiah to a tree, gagged him and tied his hands and legs. Later, when the accused was holding parleys with the family about ransom, the Jagtial police way-laid and arrested him. Based on his confession, the police went to the spot to rescue the captive, who was in his custody for three days. But, when the police reached the spot, it was found that the victim had died of starvation on the hillocks in the deep jungle.
