MANGALORE, MARCH 24. A person, who suspected the fidelity of his wife allegedly bludgeoned her using a pestle and later attempted to end his life at Kodimbala under the Kadaba police station limits in Puttur taluk on Wednesday. Police said Suresh B.M. allegedly beat his wife Sharada (32) with the pestle in front of his children. He later consumed poison and also tried to hang himself. Locals who saw this rescued him and informed the police. He has been admitted to a hospital at Puttur. Police are investigating.
Remanded
The Belthangady JMFC court remanded two accused arrested by the police with tiger skins on Wednesday in judicial custody till April 6. Those arrested include Shivakumar (28) of Renkada Guthu Mane, Belthangady, and Ramakrishna Shetty of Netharamane. Police suspect that there could be a big racket involved in the illegal procurement and sale of tiger skins.
