WASHINGTON, MARCH 24. The United States Supreme Court has refused to get involved in the Terri Schiavo case. The Justices of the Court did not assign any reason for their decision but rejected an appeal by the parents of Ms. Schiavo to have a feeding tube re-inserted into their severely brain-damaged daughter so that she can be kept alive. The feeding tube that has been keeping Ms. Schiavo alive for the last 15 years was removed last Friday at a hospice in Florida. Doctors said that unless the tube was re-inserted Ms. Schiavo would die in a week or two. Ms. Schiavo's parents, the Schindlers, filed an emergency petition with the Supreme Court saying that their 41-year-old daughter faced unjust and imminent death based on her husband's decision to halt nourishment without proof of prior consent. Ms. Schiavo's husband, Michael Schiavo argued that his wife's case had been litigated endlessly and every time courts had supported him.
