Temperature

MADURAI, MARCH 24. The city today registered a maximum temperature of 38.4 degrees Celsius, and a minimum of 27.2 degrees Celsius.

Water level

The level in the Periyar dam stood at 108.7 feet with no inflow and discharge. The level in the Vaigai dam was 26.31 feet with no inflow and a discharge of 30 cusecs.

The combined Periyar credit stood at 835 mcft. Gudalur registered 9 mm of rainfall followed by Periyar dam 7 mm, Veerapandi 5 mm and Tekkadi 4 mm.

Cultural camp

A `Cultural Training Camp' was conducted for college students at Ramakrishna Math here recently.

As many as 215 students from various colleges participated.

Special counter

The Indian Overseas Bank, Chockikulam branch, will open a special counter for collection of annual tax for non-transport motor vehicles at the ground floor of the branch premises, according to the Chief Regional Manager, K. Lakshmi Narashiman. It will function from March 28.

Motor vehicle tax for 2005-06 will be collected for cars, jeeps and two-wheelers. The bank will issue motor vehicle disc and endorse RC book immediately. At the time of remitting tax, the original RC book, insurance certificate and pollution certificate should be produced.
