Kannadasan endowment created in college

MADURAI, MARCH 24. Kannadasan Pathippagam, a Chennai-based publishing house, on Tuesday announced the creation of an endowment in memory of lyricist, Kannadasan, at the Yadava College here.

An initial contribution of Rs.15,000 was made and more funds would be used to hold annual contests for college students to perpetuate the memory of the lyricist.

Gandhi Kannadasan of Kannadasan Pathippagam said the foundation would help spread the message and works of his late father.He was speaking at a national seminar on `Kaviarasu Kannadasan,' organised by the Kaviarasar Kannadasan Ninaivu Kazhagam, Kerala University. He also contributed some of the books about the Tamil lyricist to the college library.

The Principal, G. Thiruvasagam, the Vice-Chancellor of Madurai Kamaraj University, P. Maruthamuthu, S. Shanmugiah, Controller of Examinations, MK University, and Kanchana Balu of Kerala University spoke.
