BANGALORE, MARCH 24. Two persons barged into a house in the Rajagopalanagar police station limits on Wednesday and robbed an elderly couple of gold ornaments. But an alert public caught them when they were trying to escape. The police said the incident took place at the house of Sadagopan at Swanthantrayodha Nagar around 7.30 p.m. when his neighbour Yashodamma came to meet his wife Srimathi. After Yashodamma entered the house, the two persons barged into it and slapped Sadagopan. They robbed Srimathi of two gold bangles and a chain and Sadagopan of Rs. 700. When Sadagopan raised an alarm, the two climbed the parapet and tried to escape. But an alert public caught them and handed them over to the police. They were identified as Kumar, 22, and Nagendra, 23, residents of Laggere.
Two robbed
Three persons waylaid two employees of a live band joint and robbed them of Rs. 650 after threatening them with lethal weapons in the Vijayanagar police station limits on Wednesday. The police said around midnight the robbers waylaid Ranjith and his colleague Prakash at Agrahara Dasarahalli and relieved them of the cash. The Vijayanagar police have registered a case.
Seized
The Central Crime Branch (CCB) officers on Wednesday raided a shop at RPC Layout in Vijayanagar and seized pirated VCDs and DVDs valued at Rs. 60,000. The police arrested the proprietor of the shop Raghu, 27, of BEML Layout in Basaveshwaranagar.
Clash
Three persons allegedly attacked Lawrence of Christian Colony in the Sriramapuram police station limits with machetes on Wednesday. Lawrence has been admitted to hospital. The police said Dharma, Thanga and Ganesh of the colony had teased Lawrence's niece. When Lawrence and his relatives questioned them, they allegedly attacked him. Thanga also suffered injuries on his hand when Lawrence allegedly stabbed him with a knife, the police said. The Sriramapuram police have registered a case and arrested Thanga.
Recovered
The Seshadripuram police on Wednesday arrested two persons and recovered from them four two-wheelers. The police gave the names of the arrested as Sadiq, 20, and Mohammed Khaleel, 35, residents of Hosaguddadhahalli on Mysore Road. They had stolen the vehicles from Chamarajpet, Seshadripuram and High Grounds police station limits, the police said. In another case, the Madivala police arrested seven persons and recovered three scooters, two mopeds and a motorcycle from them. The police said Javed Khan, 18, and Anand, 21, residents of BMT Layout; Sardar, 18, and Mohammed Rasool, 21, of Mangammanaplya; and Javed, 21, of Devarachikkanahalli had stolen the vehicles and sold them to Syed Asadullah, 40, and Suhali, 18. Asadullah and Suhali were also arrested.
Murdered
A 21-year-old youth was found murdered in the Mahadevapura police station limits on Thursday. The police said the assailants had bludgeoned Harish of Singaiahanapalya with a boulder. Passers-by noticed the body near the new Mahadevapura police station building that is under construction and alerted Harish's brother, Suresh. The police said Harish left his house around 9 p.m. on Wednesday with some of his friends. They suspect he was murdered the same night. The Mahadevapura police have registered a case.
Arrested
The Ashoknagar police have arrested five of the seven persons who were allegedly planning to commit dacoity. The police recovered from them gold ornaments, mobile phones and vehicles, all valued at Rs. 1.30 lakhs. The police arrested the five persons, who were allegedly involved in several crimes, at a burial ground on Hosur Road on Monday.
Three hurt in explosion
Three persons were injured in an explosion caused by a gas leak from a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinder in their house in the Ulsoor Police Station limits in the early hours of Thursday. The building was damaged. The police said the incident took place around 5.30 a.m. at the house on Shankar Nag Road in Domlur Layout. The occupants of the house, Basavaraj (26), Manjunath (35) and Suresh (19), were injured. They have been admitted in Victoria Hospital and are out of danger, the police said. They had rented the house from Ramaiah.
