NEW DELHI, MARCH 24. The Delhi Police Commissioner, K.K. Paul, today awarded out-of-turn promotions to 14 police personnel for showing courage, investigative skills and professionalism in working out some of the difficult cases. Speaking at the function at Malviya Nagar police station, Dr. Paul said all the personnel had done commendable jobs. However, he picked up the work of Constable Waseek Ahmed, whose lead proved crucial in solving the Punjab National Bank locker case of South-West Delhi last year, for special mention. In all 14 personnel, including one head constable and 13 constables, have been awarded out-of-turn promotions. The Commissioner also expressed concern over the custody death at Shahdara police station last week. He said such incidents widened the gap between the police and the public.
