HYDERABAD, MARCH 25. B. Sulochana Reddy, Principal, Osmania University College for Women, has refuted the allegations that she had abused a student by her caste. In response to reports in a section of the media, she clarified that the allegation was mischievous and misleading. Explaining her position, she said a student, Divya, along with some others came to her office seeking her help to get the hall-ticket for the coming examination. The hall-ticket was not given, as the student's attendance was less than 40 per cent whereas the university stipulates a minimum of 75 per cent. And the girl student was advised to give the examination after fulfilling the criterion. Prof. Reddy made it clear that she had seen the girl for the first time and was not even aware of her caste and other details so there was no question of calling her by caste. Moreover, the entire incident happened in the presence of other staff members in the office. She pointed out that she had supervised several M.Phil and Ph.D students belonging to SC community and there was never a problem. She said the allegation was being made as a part of coercive tactics to elicit hall-ticket.
