IA summer schedule

KOCHI, MARCH 25. Indian Airlines has announced its summer schedule for 2005 with effect from March 27. IC596 Sharjah/Kochi will arrive at 7.15 a.m. instead of 6.25 a.m. on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. IC596 Kochi/Mumbai will depart at 8.05 a.m. instead of 7.15 a.m. on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. IC909 Bangalore/Kochi will arrive daily at 1.25 p.m. instead of 1.35 p.m. IC909 Kochi/Bangalore will depart daily at 2 p.m. instead of 2.10 p.m. There is no change in the timings of other flights operating from Kochi.

Applications invited

The Union Public Service Commission has invited applications for National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examinations-II, 2005. The last date for receipt of applications is April 18. Details regarding the examination are available in the Employment News dated March 19 and on the Commission's website.

India Post

new service

India Post will launch a new service called Logistics Post between Kochi and Kannur in April. Under this service, logistics post centres will collect parcels of any weight or dimension and deliver it to the destinations of the consignor's choice. A fleet of vehicles owned by the Postal Department and vehicles leased from private agencies will be used for the purpose. The department will provide competitive tariff and 100 per cent insurance through Oriental Insurance Company. This service will be extended to the whole of Kerala with links to other States soon.

Face-to-face

meet on Islam

The Tamil Nadu Towheedu Jamaath will organise a face-to-face programme on Islam at the A.J. Hall, Kaloor, on Sunday. The former judge of the Supreme Court P.K. Shamsudeen will be the chief guest at the event. P. Jainul Abideen, Islamic scholar, will deliver the keynote address. He has been striving to remove misconceptions and societal ills. The event has been organised to clear doubts among non-Muslims about Islam.

Theatre camp

A theatre training camp organised by the children's theatre group Mazhavillu will be held at Changampuzha Park, Edapally, between April 8 and 12. Classes will be held on acting, direction, art direction, painting, choreography, script writing and music. Students between the age of 8 and 16 can participate.
