ANANTAPUR, MARCH 26. The district Collector, Y.V. Anuradha, has exhorted women to keep their homes in order before setting out to conquer the world. Speaking at a meeting organised by Mamata, the women's wing of Jana Vignana Vedika (JVV), on `Mahila Sadhikarata Sadassu' here on Saturday she suggested that women not differentiate between their daughters and daughters-in-law. She called upon the women's organisations to take up an awareness campaign against girls dropping out from schools on attaining adolescence in rural areas.
Equal responsibility
Kusuma Kumari of Padmavathi Mahila Viswavidyalayam said the women should give up superstition and instead develop a scientific approach on various aspects of life. Women had an equal responsibility in developing society along with men, she noted. She also favoured more women entering politics. The district president of JVV, R. Chandrasekhar Reddy, observed that the problems of women were one and the same at home and away. Speakers at the meeting also criticised the Indian film industry for portraying women only keeping in view the box office. The meeting was organised on the occasion of International Women's Day. The Singanamala legislator, S. Sailajanath, also participated.
