Film producers thank Chief Minister

CHENNAI, MARCH 26. The Tamil film Producers Council has thanked the Chief Minister and the city Police Commissioner for the prompt action taken against video piracy in the State and detaining offenders under the Goondas Act.

Reacting to a spate of search operations by the police that led to the arrest of three persons allegedly involved in production of sale of pirated video CDs of latest Tamil movies the Producers Council president Sathyajothi Thyagarajan said the administration's untiring work to curb video piracy saved the film industry.

Jagadeesan, Ilangovan, P.Ramakrishnan were arrested and 13,434 pirated video CDs worth about Rs.27,900 lakhs were seized.

The Chennai City Film Exhibitors' Association also thanked the administration. A release from the Association secretary Abirami Ramanathan said the police vigilance benefited the film industry.
