HYDERABAD, MARCH 26. The Minister for Mines and Geology, P. Sabita Indra Reddy, has said the Andhra Pradesh Mineral Development Corporation (APMDC) will invite global tenders within the next 20 days for exploitation of galaxy granite in 61.50 acres at RL Puram village of Cheemkurthy mandal in Prakasam district. Speaking to reporters on Saturday, Ms. Sabita Indra Reddy said the APMDC had acquired leaseholds for galaxy granite in the land. The corporation would develop it into a model quarry and set up a cutting and polishing industry near the quarry site. In the middle of the identified area, 15.50 acres in three blocks had been leased out to a private company. To take up large-scale mining the corporation proposed that the Government accord permission to the Director of Mines and Geology to shift the said leaseholds. The Minister denied reports in a section of the press that the proposals made by the corporation for exploitation of mineral resources were intended to benefit a particular party. She said the idea was to ensure more revenue for the corporation and create more employment through value addition.
