56 Maoist gram committee members quit
By Our Staff Reporter
WARANGAL,
MARCH 26.
As many as 56 members of the Communist Party of India (Maoist) gram committees in the district tendered their resignation to the party on Saturday.
According to information, members of 10 village committees in Sayampet and Regonda mandals burnt the party identity cards and informed the Circle Inspector, Ravinder Rao, about their decision to dissociate themselves from Maoists.
The police sources said all five members of Sultanpur village in Regonda mandal bid good-bye to the party. Members of the Venkateswarlupally, who had allegedly axed their ex-comrade, Banoth Raju alias Sambaiah, on February 3, were also among those who resigned. They told the police that they had taken membership following a meeting with Latakka, the Warangal and Khammam divisional committee member and the central organiser, Ramakanth, in August.
