Congress plans propaganda blitz

HYDERABAD, MARCH 26. The Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, and the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president, K. Keshava Rao, together are chalking out a mass contact programme for the party to publicise developmental works undertaken by the Government.

The Congress Legislature Party (CLP), at its meeting on Monday, will identify the areas to be highlighted during the two-month-long campaign. The Chief Minister, Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, has already planned a month-long interaction of officials with MLAs and MPs for a district-wise review of the progress of works.

Free power supply, waiver of power dues to farmers and user charges in hospitals, "Rajiv palle baata" promises, loans to DWCRA women at 3 per cent interest, irrigation projects, the concept of Rajiv Internet Village, Indira Prabha, Rajiv Yuva Shakti, medicare to poor children below 12 years of age, hike in old-age and widow pensions, Indira Kranti, Rajiv Gruha Kalpa and land distribution are some of the programmes to be highlighted during the period.

The APCC may draft the services of at least 10,000 active leaders holding responsible positions in the PCC and its various wings, in local bodies and District Congress Committees for the programme.
