HYDERABAD, MARCH. 26. In a beastly act, two persons allegedly stripped a youngster, thrashed him and tied him to an iron cot under the hot sun for several hours on Saturday. The Nampally police could rescue the victim, Shaik Jahangir (25), but not before his skin peeled off due to the burning heat. The alleged torture was due the victim not paying rent for the autorickshaw he had taken from the duo. According to the Nampally Inspector, K. Chakrapani, the accused -- Shaik Kamaal Ahmed and Qudrat Ahmed -- both brothers, picked up Jahangir, an from an auto stand. They took him straight to their residence at Bazarghat. When Jahangir said he would pay up the rent within a few days, the brothers got wild. They stripped him and thrashed him.
Gagged and tied up
Subsequently, they stuffed a piece of cloth in his mouth and tied him to the already hot iron cot in their courtyard. For several hours, Jahangir remained under the burning sun, without being able to shout for help. It was only after the police received information that they rushed to the house and freed Jahangir. The police arrested Kamaal and Qudrat and charged them with attempt to murder and wrongful confinement. A resident of Bazarghat, Jahangir, did not pay the rent for the last 10 days.Jahangir was given treatment and asked to take rest at home for 15 days.
