KAKINADA, MARCH 25. A probe has been ordered into the death of Manyam Suseela (24), of Munipalli village, who died owing to complications after undergoing a tubectomy operation at the family planning camp conducted at the service centre at Tapesweram on March 18. The Additional District Medical and Health Officer Rajahmundry, Dr. G. Vijayakumar, would conduct the probe. Explaining the details of the case, the District Medical and Health Officer, S.S.C. Chakrarao, said here on Friday that G. Varalakshmi, Medical Officer of Primary Health centre, Dwarapudi, had performed tubectomy surgeries on 10 women of whom Suseela developed complications within hours of surgery. She was rushed to a private hospital at Anaparty and later shifted her to Government General Hospital here on the same night. Dr. Varalakshmi also accompanied the patient to the hospital and referred the case to the experts. Since her condition was serious, the doctors performed another surgery on her immediately but she died on March 20.
Complicated case
Dr. Chakra Rao said that the doctors attributed the death to `septic shock due to faecal peritonitis.' He said the patient earlier underwent caesarean operation and also abortion twice.
