Suri may be produced in court on March 28

By Our Staff Reporter

ANANTAPUR, MARCH 26. One of the key conspiracy suspects in the Paritala Ravindra murder case, G. Suryanarayana Reddy alias Suri, is likely to be produced in the AJFCM court here on March 28.

He is being moved here with tight security from the central prison at Cherlapalli, Hyderabad, on a petition moved by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is probing the case, to transfer the prisoner to Anantapur for the purpose of interrogation in the case.

After the suspect is produced in the court the CBI would move another petition seeking the custody of the suspect. Suri is undergoing life imprisonment presently in the Jubilee Hills car bomb case of 1997, which was aimed to kill Paritala Ravindra.

But, 26 innocents were killed and scores of others, including Ravindra and film actor Mohanbabu, were injured in the incident. The car bomb was triggered when a procession was being taken out by Ravindra and Mohanbabu as part of launch of their film "Sreeramulaiah''.

Suri was brought to Penukonda in the district once during the 1999 Assembly elections when he was allowed to visit his native place to settle his land-related issues. He also filed his nomination papers as an independent then.

He also visited his native place, Maddelacheruvu in Kanganapalli, and attended a court case here in 2000.

Tight security

The police are making tight security arrangements for Suri's judicial transfer. The DIG of Police of Anantapur Range, N. Jayarami Reddy, on Saturday conducted a meeting with DSPs and CIs of the district over the arrangements for March 28.

Police sources stated that traffic would be diverted on several roads in the district headquarters town and the court road would be closed to traffic completely on March 28.
