Well-deserved

Sir, — Tamil writer D. Jayakanthan richly deserves the Jnanpith award. His works are exemplary and have a great appeal for the middle classes. A rationalist, he has never minced words in expressing his views. His down-to-earth style of writing has inspired a new class of Tamil writers.
