U.S. attempting to drag India into arms race: CPI

By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI, MARCH 27. Reacting to the U.S. offer of F-16 fighter jets and its more sophisticated version, F-18, to India, the Communist Party of India today accused Washington of attempting to drag India into an arms race. ``If India succumbs to the offer, it would have succumbed to U.S. manipulation,'' said the CPI National Secretary, D. Raja.

``By making simultaneous offers to both Pakistan and India, the U.S. is cleverly trying to create markets for its companies not only in Pakistan but also in India,'' he said.
