Four naxals killed in encounter
By Our Staff Reporter
KHAMMAM,
MARCH 27.
Four naxalites of the CPI (ML Praja Pratighatana), including the Khammam district secretary, Venu alias Dunnapothula Kumaraswmay, were killed in an encounter with the police at Erragutta under Garla Bayyaram police station limits today. A special party from Warangal conducted the operation as the area was easily accessible to it. One of the slain naxalites was identified as Tadi Krishna Rao of Tirumala Gandi village. The dalam was camping near "Bakkamallaiah loddi," a forest stream, as it is the only water source in the pocket. The special party planned the operation in coordination with the local police. It surrounded the camp from all directions. Two of the naxalites tried to run away at the sight of the special party, but in vain. Venu, who was leading the squad, died in the exchange of fire. However, eight others escaped.
