MANGALORE, MARCH 27. Holi revelry turned fatal for a IInd year B.Com student of Canara College here when he drowned in Arabian Sea at Thanneerbhavi beach near here on Saturday. The police gave the name of the victim as Sagar Hazare (20), a resident of Bagalkote. Sagar and his friends, who had gone to the beach to celebrate holi, went out to the sea for a swim. While Sagar and Vikas drowned, they were rescued by Vikas' brother and brought ashore. The two were rushed to a hospital where Sagar died. Vikas was discharged after treatment. Panambur police have registered a case in this regard and are investigating.
Two end life
Two persons committed suicide in Mulki police station limits in the last 24 hours. Harish M. Salian (40), resident of Koluvail, and Ashok B. Shetty (41), resident of Padapanambur, allegedly committed suicide by consuming pesticide and poison respectively. The Mulki police have registered cases. In another case of suicide, a person who was admitted to a private hospital under Ullal police station limits allegedly jumped to death from the fifth floor of the hospital on Saturday. The police said the victim, Thirumbel (55), a resident of Kasargod, was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday to undergo an eye surgery. The victim, said to be an alcoholic, was behaving strangely. Despite the efforts of hospital staff and other patients, the victim jumped from the window of the floor and died. Ullal police have registered a case in this regard. Lalitha (50), resident of Chikkamundkuru in Puttur town police station limits, allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself to a tree at a hillock near her house. The police said the victim was suffering from illness. Police have registered a case on a complaint from C. Sharath Kumar, the victim's son.
