This Day That Age
An eight-man Council of Ministers headed by Mr. B. Gopala Reddi was sworn in at 11 a.m. on March 28 at the Raj Bhavan reception hall in Kurnool, thus bringing the four and a half months of President's rule in the State to an end. The seven other Ministers are: Mr. N. Sanjeeva Reddi, Mr. K. Chandramouli, Mr. Kala Venkata Rao, Mr. G. Latchanna, Mr. D. Sanjiviah, Dr. A.B. Nageswara Rao and Mr. N.V. Rama Rao. At the conclusion of the swearing in ceremony, the Governor signed the order of appointment of his Council of Ministers and the gazette notifications thereof. A huge crowd that had gathered outside the Raj Bhavan cheered Mr. Gopala Reddi and other Ministers as they drove from the Raj Bhavan after assuming office. All but two of the Ministers who were sworn in had been Ministers of either composite Madras State or Andhra State before. Two of them - Mr. Kala Venkata Rao and Mr. Kalluri Chandramouli - were colleagues of Mr. Gopala Reddi in the composite Madras Cabinet, and two others - Mr. G. Latchanna and Mr. D. Sanjiviah - of Mr. Sanjeeva Reddi in the first Andhra Cabinet. Dr. A.B. Nageswara Rao and Mr. N.V. Rama Rao are new-comers.
