HUBLI, MARCH 28. The total credit outlay for the district for the financial year 2005-06 has been projected at Rs. 759.35 crores, which is an increase of 40 per cent over the current financial year's projection of Rs. 542.59 crores. The district credit plan, which was unveiled here today by the Deputy Commissioner of Dharwad, Gourav Gupta, at a district-level review committee meeting, envisages an outlay of Rs. 573.78 crores for the priority sector. Of this, agriculture has been allocated Rs. 185.97 crores, which amounts to 32 per cent of the total advances for the priority sector. In the current financial year, the allocation to agriculture is Rs. 127.64 crores. For crop loans, Rs. 171.90 crores has been allocated as against the current year's allocation of Rs. 101.79 crores. A sum of Rs. 3.37 crores has been earmarked for minor irrigation and Rs. 1.22 crores for land development in the credit plan.
Other areas
A sum of Rs. 330.82 crores has been earmarked for other areas in the priority sector such as transport operations, retail trade, small businesses, education loans and housing loans. This amounts to a 65 per cent increase over that of the current year's allocation. The credit plan proposes to issue 11,905 kisan credit cards to farmers with a credit component of Rs. 39.71 crores. A sum of Rs. 20.65 crores has been earmarked for implementing various works under the Prime Minister's Rozgar Yojana, Swarna Jayanti Gram Swarozgar Yojana, Udyogini, Stree Shakti schemes, Chaitanya scheme and other programmes. An allocation of Rs. 2.76 crores for plantation and horticulture development has been made in the plan while allied agricultural activities such as dairying, poultry and sheep and goat rearing have got Rs. 3.12 crores, Rs. 65 lakhs and Rs. 23 lakhs, respectively. The non-farm sector has got an allocation of Rs. 56.99 crores. Of the Rs. 573.78 crores earmarked for the priority sector, the share of commercial banks is Rs. 428.07 crores, which amounts to 75 per cent.
