THANJAVUR, MARCH 28 . The Union Minister of State for Finance, S. S. Palani Manickam, has assured that his Ministry would consider favourably any proposal for starting industry in Thanjavur district if it came from the people. He inaugurated the entrepreneurship development programme organised jointly by Bharath College of Science and Management and Rotary Club of Thanjavur here today. The Minister said that the people of an area were the best judges in choosing an industry. If entrepreneurs from Thanajvur came out with good proposals, the Ministry would consider them favourably. He also assured to organise a tour for members of all Rotary Clubs in Thanajvur and entrepreneurs to various industrial towns in the country to study industries. Mr. Palani Manickam said India was in the forefront now in software industry. But China leads in hardware industry and India also should develop the hardware industry if it has to survive the competition. He advised students to develop the spirit of entrepreneurship even while studying in the college and start industries. ``You have to convert a challenge into an opportunity,'' the Minister said. M. Nagarajan, General Manager of District Industries Centre, Prof. N. Ganesan, Secretary, Bharath College of Science and Management, G. Anbarasan, President, Rotary Club of Thanjavur, I.Radhakrishnan, Vocational Service Director, Rotary Club of Thanjavur also spoke.
