Two die in suicide pact

By Our Staff Reporter

TIRUMALA, MARCH 28. In a suicide pact, a five-member pilgrim party from Tamil Nadu today consumed pesticide at a TTD-run cottage, resulting in the death of two persons, including a teenage girl. Another member of the party, a man, was battling for his life.

The incident came to light when devotees staying in the adjacent portion of the cottage alerted the TTD staff who in turn called the police.

The three were rushed to the TTD-run Aswini hospital where they were administered first aid and then shifted to SVRR Hospital at Tirupati.

The police found empty pesticides bottles and a suicide note written in Tamil, in which it was stated that domestic and financial problems had forced them to take the extreme step.

The three, however, declined to reveal their identity..

Meanwhile, according to information available with TTD reception officials, the cottage was allotted in the name of Ms. Parvathi, House Number 40, Gandhi Nagar, Puddukottai, Tamil Nadu.
