Disturbing

Sir, — The report that the leader of the Narmada Bachao Andolan, Medha Patkar, was stopped and questioned by the Gujarat police for several hours as she crossed over from Domkhedi is disturbing. This is not the first time Ms. Patkar has been harassed by the police. It appears Gujarat's swabhiman does not extend to citizens fighting for the common man.

R.G. Bhandiwad,
Dharwad, Karnataka
