NEW DELHI, MARCH 28. The Supreme Court today allowed Raj Television Network Limited to withdraw its special leave petition (SLP) against a judgment of the Madras High Court upholding the revocation of the licence for uplinking facilities granted to it for broadcasting two channels, Raj TV and Raj Digital Plus. A Bench comprising Justice N. Santosh Hegde and Justice S. B. Sinha, dismissed as withdrawn the SLP after counsel for Raj TV, K.V. Viswanathan, informed the Court that the channel was taking up the matter with the Central Government and that the petitioner had filed an affidavit seeking to withdraw the SLP. The brief affidavit said: "The petitioner company having regard to various circumstances hasdecided to withdraw all cases pending in courts against the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology as also the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting." The Communications Ministry had revoked the licence for uplinking facilities on August 25 last year on the ground that the Raj TV Network Limited had been uplinking two additional channels, Raj Music and Raj Vissa without valid permission from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
