NEW DELHI, MARCH 28. Delhi will host three top athletics events of the domestic calendar for the 2005-06 season. The Athletics Federation of India (AFI) on Monday released the schedule of events for the coming season with an eye on next year's Commonwealth Games and Asian Games. The domestic athletics season will extend till November instead of September to prepare the athletes for the gruelling 2006 season. The Commonwealth Games in Melbourne is scheduled in March while the Asian Games in Doha is slated for December. The AFI has introduced two new competitions throws and pole vault competitions and combined events for all age groups. In all, the AFI will conduct 22 competitions with Delhi hosting the opening National circuit meet on May 17. Delhi has also been allotted the Federation Cup championship and the sixth National circuit meet.
