Record entries for Nationals

MUMBAI, MARCH 28 . India's leading carrom talents — R.M. Shankara, Sandeep Deorukhkar in men and S. Apoorve and Nirmala Parimi among women — will be on view in the 34th National and inter-state carrom championship from March 29 to April 3 at the Andheri Sports Complex.

Five hundred and fifty players have confirmed their participation, said MCA president Vijay Kamble. Bank Sports Board, Indian Airlines, LIC, PSPB, Reserve Bank, Indian Audit, BSNL, Posts & Telegraphs, United India Insurance, All India Electricity Board, BHEL, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Central Civil Services & Cultural Board, Defence Accounts and Major Ports are the institution teams competing.

Competitions will be held in inter-state team (men, women), singles and doubles (men and women), veterans (men and women singles over 45) and inter-institutional men & women's team championships. — Our Special Correspondent
